Few bands have stirred up recollections of classic Spirit-filled hardcore like Pennsylvania’s Debtor.  With obvious nods to bands like Strongarm and Focused, Debtor goes beyond being simply a throwback… instead, offering a refreshing new take on not only the musical approach, but also the lyrical potency of this legendary style of hardcore.  After hearing Debtor’s debut EP Deliverance one time, Blood & Ink Records immediately pursued the band, leading to a digital reissue of this incredible, heartfelt release.

B&I Heading To Cornerstone!

It’s that time of year again, when we trek nearly halfway across the country to hang out in a field with all of our best friends for a week straight at the annual Cornerstone Festival!

Blood & Ink will have a table in the main merch tent again this year and we’re planning to do daily deals on all sorts of shirts, records, and CDs.  Each daily deal will be announced via Twitter and posted at our table, so make sure to come by and check it out as quantities might be limited on some of these offers.  We will also have limited Cornerstone versions of Figure Four’s “Suffering The Loss” LP (limited to 10 with screenprinted covers) and Venia’s “I’ve Lost All Faith In Myself” 7″ (limited to 20 with diecut covers).

We are also happy to announce that all 9 of the active B&I roster bands will be playing at least twice and we have two dedicated days on Legacy Stage (Wednesday June 29th with our “extended family”) and Solace Stage (Friday July 1st with the “immediate family”).  Check out the poster above for a list of who is playing and when.

We look forward to seeing those of you also making the trip, so please come say hello!

Debtor + Friends Preorders Launched!

So… you know… we’re just releasing more in the first half of 2011 than we did during any previous YEAR!  We couldn’t be more happy with how busy we are these days, especially since these are some of our best releases to date.

First up, we have the first proper full length from Pennsylvania’s Debtor, Bloodseeds.  After releasing their stunning debut EP, Deliverance, digitally a little over a year and a half ago, we eagerly hoped and waited for them to craft what we knew would be an awesome full length… and they’ve done just that.  Bloodseeds at once recalls the fervor and passion of Strongarm and early Shai Hulud, yet still manages to provide a unique take on the “melodic hardcore” sound and few bands can fill each song with as heartfelt and potent lyrics as Debtor. This album will stir you to the core unlike anything you’ve heard in recent memory… in the best possible way.

Due out July 8th on CD via our webstore/retail stores and digitally via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, etc., you can preorder Bloodseeds now via the B&I Webstore and get a special price on the CD + shirt combo!

Going in an entirely different direction, we are also very excited to announce the newest addition to the B&I roster: Nashville, Tennessee’s Friends!  And Friends is literally that… 3 great friends playing music they love, together. Featuring members of Dependency and Worker, this trio takes a step away from the aggression of their other endeavors, instead opting for a hook-laden hybrid of pop-punk and emo (or at least what was called “emo” a decade ago). With songs about girls, the woes of college, and the weight of responsibilities, Friends offer a genuine, honest documentation of the lives they live.

We are very happy to be releasing the debut EP from Friends, Better Off Alone on cassette tape (strictly limited to 100 copies ever!) and digitally via Bandcamp, iTunes, Amazon, etc.  In fact, you can preorder the cassette tape version (and score a great deal on a shirt too) from the B&I Webstore or download the EP from our Bandcamp (name your own price) now!
